Its reflective aluminized outer surface helps reflect radiant heat, while the layered leather and Kevlar or aramid construction provides additional thermal and mechanical protection.

The hood is suitable for work around furnaces, foundries, smelters, steel plants, and glass manufacturing facilities where exposure to radiant and convective heat or molten metal splash may occur. It is not intended for fire entry or direct flame contact.
